About your Mediator, Lee C. Pearce

Lee C. Pearce has been a member of the California Bar Association since 1975. He was a member of the first class of Certified Family Law Specialists in 1980. In 2001 he elected to limit his practice to neutral work as a divorce mediator and private judge. He was a founding director of the Family Law Section of the Contra Costa Bar Association and the first President of the organization. He was a director of the Section for over twenty-five years, served three terms as president, and remains active in promoting divorce and court reform, continually seeking ways to improve the system and make it more responsive to the needs of families.

In his practice, he has handled all aspects of divorce and family law, including the valuation and division of businesses, complex stock option tracing, and allocation of separate and community property assets and obligations. He has also assisted in drafting the local court procedures and is familiar with the judges. He is frequently asked to teach continuing education courses to divorce lawyers. In addition to taking continuing education classes himself to maintain his Family Law Specialist Certification, he takes additional classes to maintain his mediation proficiency.

Lee has long been involved in civic affairs. From writing the Student Government Constitution as a college student, to serving as legal counsel to the California Junior Chamber of Commerce, Lee was instrumental in opening the California JC=s to women members, successfully challenging the national organization in the process.

He graduated from Old Dominion University in 1969, and served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. He attended law school at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and completed the program in two and a half years, passing the bar exam and being admitted to practice before the rest of his class had graduated.

He is an avid photographer and loves to travel, always looking for new subjects for his photography. He has been through an amicable divorce himself, remains on good terms with his ex-wife. He has lived in Danville since 1988.
